The seminar on "Civil Discourse: Responsibilities of Citizenship," was moderated by the new Dean of Students, Peter Goldsmith.

The speakers included Professor of Politics and Law Ronald Kahn, Bill Robinson ('63), former NAACP lawyer and visitng professor of law at the University of Maryland, and Joan Tronto ('74), Professor of Political Science at  Hunter College.

eighth.jpg (72590 bytes) We also heard a marvellous concert and discussion by Eighth Blackbird, the well-known contemporary chamber group founded whie they were all students at Oberlin, and now all graduate students at Cincinnati Conservatory of Music. The musicians were Matthew Albert ('96) violin, Molly Barth('97) flute, Matthew Duvall ('95) percussion, Lisa Kaplan ('96) piano, Michael Maccaferri('95) clarinets, and Nicholas Photinos ('96) cello.

The speakers were John Luther Adams, Assoc Prof of Composition, and Tim Weiss, Associate Professor of Conducting, who founded the group. Next
